Poor sears guy...

no, when you call my house, you give up all rights and are subject to my discretion. I can choose to be pleasant or angry depending on the caller and the time of day. To me, calling my house at that time of day is inconsiderate and rude and deserving of my response. I don't know how to further explain some simple societal norms that you are just not grasping and I fear no matter how much we try you will just not comprehend that the person making the advance is the responsible party. Sears used poor judgement in my eyes.

I remember once some lady called at like 6 o' clock in the morning (She wasn't a telemarketer though.) She called like 5 times in a row. Then I finally answered and told her she had the wrong number. Then she called like 2 more times after I told her she had the wrong number, and I started yelling at her.

 

Oh I wait when people do that. They continue to call even after you tell them they have the wrong number. This one person has been looking for heather and asking us if heather was home for like three years now. We continue to tell her that no one of that name lives here. She must be pretty stupid.

See your problem right there is that you should have bought the warranty AT the hospital. Returns for excessive noise are covered, and removal of the grouchy wife unit are free with the purchase of the three year extended warranty plan.

Remember, the telemarketer is the one with YOUR phone number, not the other way around (usually). He is most likely someone who doesn't care much about his job situation.

He'll also be able to call you at 3am when you and the kids are asleep.

@ G.T.:- Pretty close. I have a similar system, but without the numbers, and no chance to leave a message. Oh that's a mean trick is it? Tell someone who cares. My time is much too valuable to be wasted by basically scumbags. They fall in the same category as e-mail spammers as far as I'm concerned. Uninvited and unwelcome intruders, who live on the theory that sooner or later someone is going to be too polite or too weak to say no. I've had my wife who was disabled from an auto accident with her name down on all sorts of crap, just because she's too nice to tell them to shove it.

I fail to see how there can be any augment here. If someone makes a living out of the weaknesses, misery and inconvenience of others, and blatantly ignores the clear wishes of others, how does that warrant me being polite and nice to them? Just doing their job are they? Well if being a professional pest and exploiting the weaknesses of others is their job, then I suggest they get a life.


You wanna talk to them all hours of the day and give 'em your money? Be my guest! There are strict laws against cold canvassers and high pressure sales people in this country for good reasons. Some still choose to ignore the law, and don't merit any "kid glove" treatment from me.

Anyone want to start pontificating and tell me how I should be running my own telephone and home? Then start paying my phone bill and Mortgage, and then I might be more inclined to listen.
