Pop Up Virus

    I've been trying to reply to this thread (http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=1089998) to keep the similar posts together but it won't let me. Sounds like I have something very similar to this problem except my HJT log comes up with some different things. I didn't want to trash out something that SHOULD be there but some of the things seem a little suspect. Was hoping someone could review the log and let me know what I should click off? I assume, after that, I should follow the same instructions found in the above mentioned thread or should I be doing something else?

    Here's the logs as requested - there is a combofix log for Before (combofixB4) and after I ran AVG. The virus scan said it dumped a bunch of stuff by deleting and querantine but I'm still getting the pop-ups everytime I open IE. I'll close them and they go away while I stay on a page, but as soon as I click to another page/site I get hit again.

    I have an AVG log as well - should I include that in stead of one of the combofix logs?

    Yes that is what we asked for. We did not ask for two ComboFix logs.

    Uninstall the below software:
    Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03
    LiveUpdate 2.6 (Symantec Corporation)
    Viewpoint Manager (Remove Only) <-- should have been uninstalled in step 0 of the READ ME
    Viewpoint Media Player <-- should have been uninstalled in step 0 of the READ ME

    Make sure you reboot after uninstalling the above!

    After reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment


    Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1A00A28B-D791-4D35-AFC7-37AD23638B1a} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {32CE0D1B-3B8E-46C3-B82F-E2AA3D137CBE} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmkjj.dll (file missing)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {E12BFF69-38A7-406e-A8EF-2738107A7831} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ayqyqapp.dll (file missing)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

    Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it
    double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
    Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Check the 'Input script manually' box.
    • Click on the magnifying glass icon.
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it in the box that opens:
    • Now click the 'Done' button.
    • Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
    • You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt
    Now run Ccleaner!

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Avenger.

    Make sure you tell me how things are working now!
