Pop-ups and spam

    Pc is acting weird lately, pop-ups, spam, the usual. Would also like you to recommend which programs that I have installed need to be uninstalled. I will attach a CCleaner list.

    All scans came clean except Activescan, which showed one entry with a potentially unwanted software, you'll see it on the log.

    Did you have the below running when you ran HijackThis?C:\WINDOWS\system32\mspaint.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\taskmgr.exe

    Did you install and run Spybot? It seems to be missing from your installed programs list but I do see a folder for it. You may need to uninstall, reboot, delete the folder, and then reinstall.

    What kind of popups are you having? What do they say and when do they occur?


    You need to install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

    Then uninstall the below old versions of software:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 3

    yes, i did have those programs while I was running HiJack This

    Yea, I have Spybot installed and I ran it during the scans.

    They are mostly ads for products ans such, but 4-5 pop up at a time when ever I visit certain sites.

    I assume my logs didnt have any probs?

    Then you need to follow those directions I gave because something is not correct with your installation.

    Then they are probably popups due to the sites you are visiting. And spam is just due to the fact that spammers have your email address.

    That's correct.....no malware observed.
