Ok, I have tried until I am miffed.
    I am using a linksys BEFW 11S4.
Certain apps such as games tell me that I am behind a firewall.
I can only think that it is to do with the Linksys.
I've followed instructions but to no avail.
Any links to sites with step by step mr thicko instructions appreciated.

Can you get into your router settings?
If not go to start/run type in cmd then type in ipconfig on your dos prompt. The default gateway address is the path to your router.Go to your browser i.e ect and type in your default gateway in your internet explorer address and you should enter your router settings the password should be admin unless it has been changed. Then go to advanced settings and (port) forwarding create a name and set your ports you want to be open on tcp and udp. This will be two entries.make sure the program is set at this port and the firewall.

    Hi both.
Yes, I have done all that but to no avail.
    I have a static ip.
    I'm confused.

for testing purposes, have you tried setting your IP up for the DMZ in the router? this should allow all traffic through.

Sometimes port forwarding isn't enough. Do you have a port triggering setting?

    Tried all you said.
I have no trouble with older games like MOHAA.
The problem is with things like Far Cry.
    Probably 'better' security.
I had a go at Limewire as I found a tutorial on setting up my router, but that hasn't worked either?
    I'm stumped.
I'll have to ask my ISP if he has a setting in his server that is blocking these things.
I'm not on a normal ISP, this is through 802.11 wireless with a linux server.
So i'm going from my pc to a wireless router, through a d-link thingy then through a linux server.
Plenty of scope for grief huh?
