Port Scans

Just today, I have had my Sygate tell me it had blocked 3 scans from 61.233.40.205
I did some googling, coming across this It is from China. http://forums.speedguide.net/showthread.php?t=186699

Went a little further and found this http://www.spencerglobal.com/global/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=23&Itemid=1

Can anyone tell me what it means? Sygate blocks it but why are the picking on me?

Mcadam replied in a joking manner but he was correct! Someone in China, if the address wasn't spoofed through a bunch of different servers, was scanning your pc for open ports. No cause for worry as Sygate reported it and refused it.

He is most likely just randomly scanning ports under a fake ip address.....and yours was picked..and scanned...

I failed the firewall, but I know the Internal IP is broadcast because I am still working on CUPS and the printer is on the XP machine....

Otherwise clean as can be.

 

Port scans are normal. I remember when i was using sygate, i got alot of them.

 

Interesting. I expect that the Chineese IP is from a machine thats been compromised. That or a REALLY dumbass Chineese hacker. Most portscans you get at home are from an IP scan - chances are you replied to a ping or somthing, so you got maked as interesting, so they did a portscan to see what was available.
