I tried to play Age of Empires II online on my new computer yesterday, but i was unable to join an online game. I contacted Microsoft Support, and they gave a link that would test my "ports". The problem appears to be that either my router or Norton 2004 is "stealthing" ports 80 and 2300-2400. I have no idea what this means and i have no idea how to fix it. I am waiting for a response from Microsoft, but was wondering if anyone here knew what to do/what not to do. Thanks!

Someone fed you a line to get you off the phone.

The Norton firewall is probably not setup to allow AOE 2 to access the net and/or these ports.

You should have been prompted when trying to connect online if this was to be allowed.

'Stealth' has nothing to do with it.

Well, it wasnt to get me off the phone, because i was never on the phone, it was an email.

Either way, do you know how to change Norton's preferences to allow these ports to be used (if that is possible..)

You don't want to enable any ports, just open Norton's firewall & go to Internet Access Control. Now check to make sure your game isn't already listed there, if it is select it then hit the remove button.
Now hit the add button & navigate to your install directory (usually C:\Program Files) for the game & select the icon that represents your game (which should be the .exe file).
It should be straight forward from here & when done it should say Permit ALL in the Internet Access Control section beside the game name.
