Hello I am new to this so I dont know quite how to explain the problem I have an old emachines comp (E3021) with 2gb ram and I recently moved it to a new location but when I set it back up it refuses to boot although the speakers power up and I get a constant repetative bleep from them is this a power supply problem or something wrong with the motherboard or even something a little less mundane any help would be appreciated

Hi, henry123. Welcome to Major Geeks. :)

Along with the bleeping, did you notice any LEDs flashing? Generally, during POST (self test at bootup) if problems are detected along with the beeps LEDs will flash in a particular sequence to indicate the possible cause of the problem. The beeps may have a particular sequence as well.

Continuous beep usually indicates a RAM problem. Unplug the computer and open up the case. Take out the RAM, clean the gold contacts with a pencil eraser (do not touch the gold contacts) then make sure the chips snap back in the slots.
You can also run a test to see if the RAM is good.

No I get nothing but the intermittant beeps and the led indicator on the speakers flashing on and off in time with them.
