Along with the FX-55 you had in your sig that suddenly became a non-existant project computer?

Sorry, I don't buy it. Not one bit.

    Post pics please.

You said you had the whole thing coming your way.

And everyone unboxes parts when they get them to check they have everything, tigerdirect only gives you a 28day return policy.

How much do these cars go for usually? I thought they were pretty rare and expensive to run...

Surely no-one in their right mind would leave that at a junkyard????

The '67 Shelby is quite rare and expensive. You could expect to pay as much as US$50000 (maybe more, never been in the market for a Shelby, much less the GT500) for a completely restored model. The parts are pretty well available, but can be pretty expensive to find originals.

My wife I have a '66 Mustang Convertible with 289 cu in. V8 all original interior including pony interior and original working AM 8-track. (Though don't tell my wife I said it is mine -- it's in her name :p :p ) When we have looked at shows, the Shelby's were either not for sale, or VERY expensive.

And, yeah, I'll post a pic if you want :D .

Peugeot = French, so its more baguette than rice ;)

Ahhhhhhh NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO McA dont get a chav mobile  may have looked half decient without the wannabie racing stickers on the side and front splitter!

What you want is car with same tweaks to engine and slight body spoilers skirts, nothing that stands out... wolf in sheeps clothing ;)

With all that bling ( under car lighting ) as Adryn put it you would be a sitting target for the boys/girls in blue :D

I have two words for you mcadam:

    PIMP-ED OUUT!

I have a Citroen Saxo (Spree), I'm going to tweak it but do next to NOTHING cosmetic. If I were to buy that car I'd rip off all of the bling. Especially the underlighting.

You know the other day in Maidenhead I saw a group of chavs and chavettes have a "street racing" gathering outside McDonnalds (can ya get any more obvious?). It was like a scene from Fast and the Furious, only much less, uhh, classy! They had all the underlighting you could want, Xeon headlights, hamussive spoilers, tinted windows, spurious engine management computers (it was blatantly obvious they were there only for show) ... all stuck onto cars like... a ford focus, a peugeot 106, ford fiesta... Ok so the focus wasn't bad (i quite like them, they've got a bit of grunt to them), but come ON. Peugeot 106.

The fiesta had nitro tanks in the boot. If he actually used them, the thing would probably explode in a matter of seconds!!

    Lol hehe.

I'm considering buying my auntie's Peugeot 106 for about £400 which is a K reg. What you think? I think it's only a 1.1litre diesel engine, might up that to 1.4 though.

so, halo, how would you baguette an estate? lol. I would love to soup up my car, but I doubt my dad would let me.

    mmm.... baguette and soup

  25. goldfish

I'm sure you could soup it up discreetly :p Take it in to "replace the brake pads" and get an entire new braking system ;) Get the transmisison changed to a extra high ratio gearbox, see if you can get new firmware for the engine management system (my dads Porche got a firmware upgrade which upped the top speed by 5MPH and gave it better performance at low revs! :D). There are plenty of things you can do without obvious cosmetic differences :p

Aaaaaaanyway, moving back to the original topic about that car! I'm not putting a bid in cos it'll get stolen, obviously.
So goldie, not getting the chav-mobile and ku-sama I'm not doing it up any more, even if I did get it, I live in the real world and can't afford stuff like that.

Sorry to continue the Hijack of your thread, Mcadam...

but since there is an atmosphere of disbelief here (and really because I like showing it off) here are some pics of my (erm, my wife's ;) ) '66 Mustang Convertible.

Compliments are appreciated, awe is expected :p :p :p

Notice the "told you so MG" sign under the wiper blade.

add some beef and mustard its already baguette size ;)

as said earlier by goldie, remap of engine if the software allows, lowered suspension, alloys but not weird ass in your face ones, yeah a set of Brembo cross drilled brakes, a re-spray maybe, uprated air intake and possible exhaust system.

only thing with mods tho McA is insurance will murder you.. best to stick with stock as much as you can for a few years then start modding when you have enough no claims that the cost dont rise too much... the 1.1 would be a great start at least you'll be mobile?

Nah, ill wait till I get a job and then soup up my own car :D Would be nice to have a decent media player in the front though, thats one thing my dad would appreciate :)

anyway, engine management system?? My car's 11 years old goldie, it doesnt even have ABS!

Oh yeah, if anyone's teaching their kids to drive, it is not a good idea to tell them that the car hasn't got ABS right when they're doing an emergency stop down a hill ^^ <--just a hint ;)

  35. goldfish

    goldfish Lt. Sushi.DC

I'll have some sort of engine management. My car is not much younger and has a microcontroller for engine management. Its passive though, so upgrading it wouldn't help me.

Media player, hmm, thats do-able :D

yeah, when we went on holiday to the US, the best thing about the car was the way the cd player took cds at the front of the car.

We have a multidisc one in the back, which is mounted upside down! damned fools at peugeot

  38. mcadam

    mcadam Major Amnesia

Lol, I've decided I'm not too bothered about a cd player, just get a tape to minijack adaptor and play music through my ipod - clever eh?? ;)

  39. sizjam

yeah, but its quite nice to be able to put your cds in there as well :)

+ my minidisc's buttons are a bit small to use while driving, lol.
