Possible Key Logger

    Hello,

My names Clayon and I have a suspicion of a key logger. I feel this way because recently my bank account website said I had logged in to many times when in fact that was the first time in several days. I also am now aware that my Battle.net account has been compromised.

Sadly I have brought this upon myself, I am solely responsible. I was trying to download a Zoo Tycoon torrent about three weeks ago. (yes it's true I felt the need to play an 8 year old game) I however did not have a copy of it anymore so I decided to cheat. I regret it now because while it was downloading I got infected. At the time I had McAfee Plus and it caught some of it. But it seemed to progress fast. I did not open the file or anything it was just downloading. I quickly realized that things have gone bad and I stopped the download and deleted it. By that time it was to late. So I quickly did a scan with Mbyes and McAfee. They found some things and they got deleted. Stuff still was not working properly so I put it in safe mode and did the same. They found more items and they got removed. I then did a system restore. The computer rebooted and things seemed to be fine. I was suspicious and rather displeased with McAfee. I uninstalled it and ended my subscription. I then bought Mbytes and installed a enterprise edition of McAfee. As it was compatible with the schools network.

Everything's been fine, but I feel like I might have something. I did as your guide suggested to help make things faster. So the appropriate files have been attached.

Thanks in advanced, great work is done here.

    P.S. I'm running a Windows 7 64 Bit system

Then you should use a different computer and change all your online passwords. Then you need to contact your bank and all credit card accounts and just alert them to the fact that your personal info may have been compromised.

Before we continue I would like for you to use MSConfig to put this machine back into normal start up mode, if you haven't done so already.

Did you knowingly install this? WinPcap 4.1.1 <--- If not please uninstall it.

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    • O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5C255C8A-E604-49b4-9D64-90988571CECB} - (no file)
    • O2 - BHO: (no name) - {AA58ED58-01DD-4d91-8333-CF10577473F7} - (no file)
    • O2 - BHO: (no name) - {AF69DE43-7D58-4638-B6FA-CE66B5AD205D} - (no file)

    • O15 - Trusted Zone: http://*.mcafee.com

    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

    Download and run OTM.

Download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.

    Code:

    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
    • Push the large http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2782/4174320048_f01c448b32_o.png button.
    • OTM may ask to reboot the machine. Please do so if asked.
    • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it into notepad, save it as something appropriate and attach it into your next reply.

NOTE: If you are unable to copy/paste from this window (as will be the case if the machine was rebooted), open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and attach the contents of that document back here in your next post.

    SystemLook

Please also download SystemLook from one of the links below and save it to your Desktop.
    Download Mirror #1
    Download Mirror #2

    • Double-click SystemLook.exe to run it.
    • Copy the content of the following codebox into the main textfield:
      Code:
      :dir
      C:\Users\Clayton\AppData\Local\{EBC0B60B-CEF3-42CE-84ED-8EA8DDBA9C1C}
    • Click the Look button to start the scan.
    • When finished, a notepad window will open with the results of the scan. Please post this log in your next reply.
Note: The log can also be found on your Desktop entitled SystemLook.txt

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

You need to attach log(s) showing what MBAM removed. Also attach the log from systemlook.

Tell me how things are running now? :)

    Hello,

Thanks for getting to me so quickly I appreciate it. :D Anyway the computer seems to be running as normal but there really wasn't anything noticeable before. I cannot provide you the Mbytes detection and removal logs as I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it. Several times actually. My college network uses NAC agent which was not compatible with letting me just have Mbytes because its not fully secure. So I had to install their McAfee client and it did not like Mbytes so I uninstalled it and installed Mbytes afterwords which worked fine. Anyway I have the two other things you requested. I apologize for my lack of Mbytes logs.

    Thanks

If you need anything else from me, just let me know.

Okay, that's given me the information that I wanted.

    Delete the below file:

    C:\Users\Clayton\AppData\Local\{EBC0B60B-CEF3-42CE-84ED-8EA8DDBA9C1C}\chrome\content\overlay.xul

    Now empty your recycle bin.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

If you have time to answer did I have an infection? And thank you for your time.

    Thanks.

You had a few bits and bobs that needed removing, nothing specific I can pin down to a single infection I'm afraid. But as I said, your logs look good, and you should be alright now.
