Possible MajorGeeks Giveaway

so your into giving bad gifts, or the people take them all wrong

 

I don't mean to be the sour puss here but, I have to say that I don't necessary agree with the idea of the bad christmas present picture/story!!

Let me explain...I will use myself for an example.

I only get a few gift from a select few individuals, and those who do buy me gifts typically get me something that is on my list and/or they know me well enought, they know if I would like something they are going to surprise me with. Don't mean to brag, but it's the truth!!

Also, thinking back on the one or two "less than desired" gifts that I have had...I just don't have the heart to exploit that because it was all out of the goodness of their heart, so I guess you could say i'm too much of a softie, and I ultimately respect that fact that it was the thought that counts!!!! In fact I sometimes find myself kind of feeling sorry for them because they obviously tried out of the goodness of their heart and missed it by a mile!!!!

So...surely to god I couldn't be the only one wearing these shoes!?!?! But who knows...I guess I could be...but that's just my opinion!!

Being that I don't really NEED a computer...and you chose to go this way...I would simply opt out, and not really think much about it!! It wouldn't "hurt my feelings" if I didn't get a chance at this rig, and I wish the best to whoever would!!!!

Don't mean for this crticism to be harsh, I was just simply trying to explain why I felt this way, so I apologize if anyone took it the wrong way

HOLY COW!!!! Do you know how much my brother Ricky is into computers? It would be wonderful to try a giveaway. He works at Staples as a Business Associate and is ALWAYS doing research on products I always think of him first when the "computer" word pops up.

About the idea, it sounds good but I have a feeling that if you win the gift and receive it, and someone asks, "How did you win it?" They would say, "Well I told them about you giving me that horrible gift and..." *SLAP!* LOL I am kidding but it actually sounds like fun. Give us an admin e-mail when you do this please!

Anyway, I would recommend you guys doing a simple drawing like this (this was INCREDIBLY successful on one site and brought many new members to the site):

1) Create a simple thread announcing the contest
2) Post out rules including that you must have at least 10 posts in order to participate (suckers will come to your site)
3) Tell them to reply to the thread just with their name

In addition, this would be a good way to test if their e-mail they gave you when signing up is up-to-date.

If this contest does take place, I wish the best of luck to everyone

That is a good idea but it might be better to go to the person with there post count closest to 305 its just a random number i got out of my head.

After reading this thread, it's obvious you're not gonna please everyone, so go with that idea. Odds are my wife will win it, because she's married to me. I'll get her to sign up.

 

After reading the entire thread, I think that the Moderators should be allowed to enter also, and to automatically disqualify them from entering would be wrong! In addition to monitoring this site, they also give needed advice and suggestions to members in need of such, and they are a part of Major Geeks and devote a lot of their time to it. Only my thoughts on this subject!

@AbbySue - I can feel your pain with the loss of your possessions and family momentos. I have experienced something similar. Only thing that I have left of my family is one 8x10 photo of my mother, and I do dwell on this at times.

As MA had decreed it to be a worst Christmas present contest, I will gladly sit on the sideline and cheer the winner as photography has never been one of my personal interests and don't have a digital camera.

 

I have to agree with Roger. If I would get an "awful" gift, it would be from someone close to me and I would never post it on here where the person might read about it.
I couldn't hurt someone like that.

It's a long story.. basically i'm inheriting 4 kids, and they all have a mom so I can't be there mom so I get to be there dad.

I know that I would probably get you guys on the worst Christmas gift - but I was wondering, do you know how much bad christmas gifts we will be able to submit? Or will it be one per person? One per person would be good enough for me!

Back in 1987, I was existing at a small town called Warner Robins, in middle Georgia, US….and some buddies got together and gave me some checkered pants…..with some sick colors, that would make those yellow shots we all know about, look like great beach wear…….yellow, tan, black, two shades of green, a little white, and hot pink……I think I wore them once, to a Halloween party…….sorry, but there’s no photos, really…….wobbles

 

When will this be given away, like a date or whatever?
