Possible Malware?

    Hello,

I was trying to download a picture from my webmail, and no window popped up to indicate where I would save it. I tried downloading other things from the web with the same result. I hit the download button, then nothing else happens.

I continue to be able to surf the web normally, but I'm afraid of doing too much because of possible malware.

I completed the "READ & RUN ME FIRST Malware Removal Guide" by copying the programs from a CD. My thumb drive didn't work, which may or may not be related. I have attached my logs to this message.

One final note. Some of the files caught are C++ programs that I wrote. I suspect that the cleaning software might be sensitive to these homemade .exe files, when in fact they are perfectly benign.

    Thanks for your help!

    P.S.

When I attempted to upload my logs, I hit the "browse" button, and no window appeared then either. :(

You are not having malware problems. Your logs are clean. Make sure that you have not blocked popups somehow in your security software or that you did not disable the download feature in Firefox. Try another brower too. I suggest that you post in the Software Forum if you continue to have problems.

    You're welcome.

Since you are not having malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
