    I have run the READ & RUN ME FIRST steps.

    The PC started to have this problem a few days ago. It would run fine for 20 minutes or so, before all the applications began to freeze up, eventually there would be a continuous system beep. At first I though it could be due to a heat issue. I cleaned all the components with compressed air & monitored all the temperatures, everything seemed to be fine with their levels.

    I did a bit of research on the web and did find some people that had had a similar problem in the past. A lot had suggested that it could be hardware, but some had suggested running in safe mode or debugging mode. I am able to run in debugging mode without the PC crashing for over 24 hours, but if I try to run in normal mode then the PC freezes after 10 to 20 mins.

    Step 2: Uninstalling Multiple Protection Applications
    • Antivirus - I removed AVG & installed Avira Antivir as your post on How to Protect yourself from malware! seemed to suggest it was a good one
    • Firewall - I tried to install Comodo Firewall, but encountered problems there. I am still running Windows firewall, though security centre is still reporting that Comodo is running, even though it is not installed. I have downloaded Outpost & plan to install that once I get this problem fixed.

    Step 3: House Cleaning
    Removed listed & non-used programs
    Quarantine folders emptied
    Java 6 Update 16 removed, Java 6 Update 18 installed
    Recylce bin emptied
    CCleaner run on all accounts

    Step 4: Configuration & Setup
    Hidden files shown
    MSconfig already running in normal mode

    Step 5: Uninstall Known Malware and Unwanted Software
    No programs that were listed were installed

    Step 6: Select and run the all steps in the cleaning link below based on Windows XP Cleaning Procedure
    • SUPERAntiSpyware - Completed successfully - log attached
    • Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - Completed successfully - log attached
    • ComboFix - Completed successfully - log attached
    • RootRepeal - This program would crash the PC when starting the Scan. Giving a BSOD with the following error (Stop 0x0000008E (0xC0000005,0xF743c90E,0xB86247D4,0x000000000) nvrd32.sys
    • MGtools - Completed successfully - log attached

    Thanks in advance.

    I am only seeing one item that needs to go. Let's remove it and see how you are running.

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    * Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    * If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    * Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    Driver::
    SjyPkt

    File::
    c:\windows\System32\Drivers\SjyPkt.sys

    * Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    * At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    * You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    If it asks you to overide the prvevious file with the same name, click YES.
    * Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif
    * Follow the prompts.
    * When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    * I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\ComboFix.txt
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    I tried the instructions you gave me (while running in debugging mode)

    The Combofix seemed to run OK, as I saw it get to stage 50, but when I looked back windows was restarting. I restarted in Safe Mode & Combofix automatically started & started to write the log attached.

    I Have now restarted the system & I'm waiting for any signs of system crash. The system seemed to work fine for almost 30 minutes in normal mode, then I accessed the Start menu & the system froze up again. The mouse won't move & the keyboard has locked up.

    Your logs are clean. Your issues are either a hardware ( overheating, etc.) or a software issue. I suggest you post in one of those forums for further assistance.

    I seriously suggest you stop allowing all users to have Admin. Privileges.

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real-time protection. They are useful as backup scanners.They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    7. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    8. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures in step 3 the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore ato create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
