possible real dumb hard drive question...

k my gf has an old Celeron 333 or something, and I wanted to swap the hard drive from that comp over to a Celeron 700 (whole diff mother board, etc...) She's only running Windows 98 SE

Now I have swapped drives before on my own and had no problems, but I'm running XP Pro CE

So the big problem is once the drive was swapped over on hers....Windows was having a very hard time finding all the drivers and then the only display setting available was 640x800 16 Bit Color...Also she lives on an acreage so she only gets dial-up...and the modem wouldn't work either for some reason?

Is there something I'm totally being stupid about here? Or is it just the fact that Win 98 is way less user friendly and I'll have to screw around a lot more...?

The HD has drivers for the old motherboard, which apparently don't work with the new motherboard. You will need to get the drivers for her newer hardware and install them on her computer.

 

Does anybody know if I have to totally reformat or not, for this to work!?!?
