Possible virus, or just a glitch.

    sometimes when i am using my computer ( windows xp, with optical usb mouse) the mouse pointer will just drift, i dont even have to touch the mouse. the mouse is just a standard microsoft mouse, version 1.0a. do you think that this is just a software problem, or what else can cause this kind of problem.

    I get that freeky isnt it :D

    and on a few PCs in work... tended to happen after SP2.. coincedence possible or maybe driver/usb orientated or even the infared picking something up, I dunno will have a look into this, not that the mouse shooting off to a different part of the screen really affects me as it makes the computing experience unique ;)

    yeah, i know, i was watching a the ring 2 on my computer, and all of a sudden the mouse started to move around. it scared the sh*t out of me.

    no, i just got back from work. i do belive it could be SP2 doing it, but its doing it more often, and its really pissing me off now.

    Delete mouse from Device Manager and let the OS pick it up again.... I'm going to do the same and then maybe see about any updated drivers.
