im trying to fix my cousins computer and it posts ok but i get the "windows didnt start normally last time" option. no matter which option i choose(start normally, safe mode, last known good configuration) it tries to start windows and then it just reboots and posts fine and goes into this vicious cycle again and again no matter which os start option i choose. can someone tell me whats wrong? i ran a diagnostic and it gave me a weird code that wasnt in the code manual(0d) and another one(fe)
i think its the motherboard but im not sure.
    thanks guys

Try pulling the mother board battery out for a few minutes[clear cmos], unplug power at power supply first, if that works you will have to go and reset your time and date. Let us know . ed

i also noticed that the screen keeps going out like it loses signal for a fraction of a second then is back on. this happens while trying to load windows. i actually get a windows loading screen but it just reboots after trying to load windows.

Have you checked your monitor cable? Is it plugged firmly into your graphics card and tightened down firmly? Even if it seems to be OK you might want to shut the system down, turn off the power supply (and/or unplug the power cord). Then unplug your monitor cable from the back of the computer, check the pins, plug it back in and tighten it down firmly and see if that helps. Long shot, I guess but worth a try.

    Do what Eezak says.
What type of monitor do you have?
    Is it crt or lcd?
If the pins on your cable are fine and if you have a crt monitor check the back of it and see if you can unmount the cable from the back, might have a broken connection in the cable and replace (buy) the cable .
