I recently had some help from this forum to remove malware. The process went fine, and all the malware is gone. But several issues have occurred since which have me puzzled.

First, when I launch any 3D game it often crashes the system. This seems unrelated to any normal crash related problem, because it only happens when I launch a game. This rarely, if ever, happened prior to the malware removal. When the system reboots after the crash, the game will start normally and play fine.

Second, despite having "autoplay" toggled, the system will not autoplay. Any disk inserted into the drive is read and functions fine, but autoplay acts as if it is disabled, but it is not. USB sticks also won't auto open.

I realize these problems may be unrelated to the removal process, but since they were not occurring prior to the removal, and are now occurring I thought they might be related.

    Any ideas?

These are issues more appropriately addressed in the Software Forum. So I'm moving the thread. You need look at logs showing why you system is crashing and that can be done here.

Removing malware can sometimes have other effects on a system because malware can infect files and sometimes the only fix is the deletion of the infected file. The same can be true for various registry keys. The process of doing this could effect other software. Sometimes an uninstall of the software followed by a reboot and then a reinstall is enough to solve the problem.
