Post Results to Excel

Can someone help me out with this? Without creating a .asp page or using FrontPage Extensions, I need to have results of a Web survey post into an Excel file. I did it before and the results posted into a .csv file. However, the person hosting our site moved it to another server that doesn't support .asp pages, so my old survey won't work. I think it's on a Linux server.

I can create all the check boxes, text boxes, etc., so I don't need help with that. I'm just having trouble getting it to post to the Excel file when the user clicks the Submit button.

Is a CSV file still acceptable?

CSV files are just plain text that gets formatted when opened by Excel. Not sure what scripting language you're using, but that should be fairly simple to do, no???

 

I'm creating Web pages in FrontPage and using a little html here and there manually. (Groan-but have no choice.) CSV is still acceptable for the results to compile.

I'm just trying to figure out the code to make it post without using the FrontPage extensions. What should I put after onSubmit=? Do I need to add anything else?

Yes, you will need some sort of scripting language to post the values of the survey form to a text file.

If this is client-side, you might consider using Javascript to do this.
Server-side might be best done with PHP.

Your onSubmit event would then point to a function you had written in one of these languages.

It would be pretty similar to the ASP setup, only in a language that is supported by your webserver.
