lol.... Neo, I am relatively in learning phase and god knows how many times I would upload a page to my site then open it up and go 'WTF?!?'

My current site is with a free web hosting site and pop-ups are a bit embarrassing so I will hold off on posting my site until I carry it over to a paid site hosted by a good company (still shopping, anyone have any input on this host: www.hostexcellence.net?)

I use www.1asphost.com for ASP and the like, and my new one is www.host-dot.com for my PHP stuff. They both have a ton of space (like 100mb and 250mb), the first one has unlimited bandwith, and I think the second does too (not sure). They both have no ads also. The 2nd one also has like a bunch of stuff like fantastico and an ftp upload server. oh, dn there both free.

Mainly about video games and spam, I was sitting on a vBulletin license so I thought I'd use it

 

I currently have a site hosted with DotEasy. It only costs $25 a year (goes as low as $18 if you sign up for multiple years at once) for the domain, and you get free hosting with no banners. The reliability has been excellent! You get 25 megs (100 extra if you do a google search and find another doteasy hosted site as your "referrer") of space and 1 gig monthly transfer... Just my 2¢!

 

Thank I wanna but 25MB is too little for my needs, paying $50 a year to get 1000MB with 4Gig montly transfer seems better even though cost more or what Neo mentioned is a decent 'free' alternative...

Yah, for my site, 125 Megs is more than enough, but for more storage and transfer, I'm sure there are better alternatives.

 

well i think the reason that hes poitning out that the one i recommened is better, is because its absolutely free.

 

You could just make your own hosting

 

I need a computer for that first. And Windows server edition. And an ISP which would allow me to do that.

 

Goldy, I was actually thinking about doing that as well....advantages and disadvantages to both methods....decisions decisions...

You need an ISP who doesn't care, but you don't need Server nececarily. Its just a lot easier that way. You can use xp Pro if you're only running one website

 

Well, i mean if i wanted to I could probably buy a few parts and fix up an old computer that I have laying around somewheres. But I want to save money for other things. I still have it in my head though don't get me wrong. I've been thinkin real hard whether or not I wanna buy a domain right now.

BTW, what was the site you recommended me for purchasing a domain name again? I kinda forgot. They had a sale on uk domain names. Thanks.
