Power Point issue

Hi,
... I'm not sure if this issue is with my Office 2000 version Power Point software or my WinXP Pro or if it is an issue with my laptop but I thought I would start in the software thread to begin with.

.... I am creating a large PowerPoint file that incorporates photos, with Talk and Music files. The problem I am experiencing is that after setting up the PP file with all the sound files and everything working fine during the "Viewing" of the end product,..... after I "re-start" my laptop,.. none of the sound files will play. They are still present within the file, but they will not play. ......... I have looked all through the PowerPoint program but cannot find any sort of settings changes that may have caused this.
.... This has happened to me a couple of times with the same file on my desktop,.. but it generally does not happen on my desktop. The problem is that I need to be able to present the file on my laptop.

I am stumped!...
My laptop is a Compaq Armada running WinXP Pro with Office 2000 Power Point.
.... Unfortunately this same problem happens even when I just load the PP file onto the laptop from an external drive,.. .the audio files will not play. They only play right after I have loaded them into the PP file on the laptop and only before the laptop has been shut down or restarted.
....If no-one knows what could be causing this,.. could you direct me to a place to get help with this? ... Thank you.
