The jack my PC is hooked up to is turned on and off by my light swicht. when i turn off the lights to go to bed it also shuts all the power off from the computer. whenver i leave the light switch off for a while say 12 hours i end up having to wait 30 minutes or so before my computer regains enough power to start the computer. what can i do to stop having to wait at least 30 minutes each morning?

leave the tower running, shut off monitor whilst asleep.

or call the electrician, wire a proper 110 volt wall plug in.

It sounds more like a power supply issue to me. As an electrician for 19 years I can tell either the power to the outlet is on or off and in no way would cause a half hour delay just be being off for a while (or even overnight). You could try an extension cord from another outlet if you dont believe me and want to eliminate the possibility.

It could be a surge protector relay in your psu or somewhere else along the line tripping when you turn the power back on,buy one of those light fittings that fit into the socket of your light, that have a cord switch,or as has been said get your house wired up properly, remember light fittings arnt designed for you to power multiple components off, they are designed for one or two bulbs,be careful

I'm wondering if your CMOS backup battery is on its way out. Have you tried replacing it?

I'd First test the Voltage at the outlet where the PC was pluged into.

Then the next thing, is to test your PSU.

I say to test outlet cause if your having voltage problems, this could shorten the life or Kill any thing pluged into it.

the outlet seems to be fine because the lamp plugged into it still works and i plugged my computer into another outlet and it still doesnt turn on.

What I mean is to measure the voltage at the outlet, Just cause the lamp works doesnt mean it's OK, you may have a Voltage drop/leak which could cause an appliance such as a pc to fail but yet a light bulb may appear to be fine.
I doubt thats your problem but never the less a possibility.

If you think the outlet's fine that's OK with me.
The next thing is test your PSU.
