The power supply that blew up ( literally popped Loudly, and started smoking)
was a OKIA 450 watt power supply ( only paid $19 US. for it LoL)-needless
to say I was more than a little disenhearted at this situation
-after only 2 months of having it

To make a long story short, it ended up killing one of my 80gig hardrives. :(

anyway I went out and got a ANTEC True power 430 Watt, cost me $80 dollars after $20 dollars mail in rebate, I can't believe the quaility of this unit.
it weighs like X5 more than my old power supply, and the connecting wires it
has are of a MUCH higher quaility, (everything about this p/s screams quaility.) I'm very impressed. :) I hope this unit will last longer.

Any way I have learned my lesson. :)

Yes its one of the hardware items that can be overlooked, a good hig branded PSU is always recomended, ANTEC make some very reliable PSUs as do ENERMAX...

pitty about the HD tho, have or did you get your money back on the OKIA PSU as its only 2 months old?

I've been threw two Antec True 430's. lol Both done purty much as you described, but I now know why. Seems I was getting some massive power spikes threw the lines. Got that all fixed up now. I got this PC Power & Cooling unit now & it simply rocks. Had a problem with it a while back, died, ain't a clue as to why, but again all fixed now. They are very nice PSU's but way too expensive.

I was gonna crack a witty comment about expense being in the eye of the wallet holder "dam it slipped out anyway" then I saw the price,$200 for a psu! Hell I'd wanna be buried with it,I know how people feel when they laugh at me for spending $120,anyway I cant talk,I'v just spent $100 on 5 case fans.lol

5 year warranty though,I'v a feelin atx spec wont be here in 5 years I hope you have clear sailin.

I say this in the nicest not argumentitive way possible, suesman do you not think thats overkill for your system?
