POWERCOLOR X600 game lockup issue

Using the below configuration.

AMD64 3200+ MMX 3DNOW ~2GHZ
512MB DDR
Powercolor X600 128mb PCIE
DirectX 9.0c
MSI NEO4
Windows XP Pro SP2
Phoenix Award BIOS v6.00
ANTEC Truepower 380W PSU


Symytoms:-

Playing games like Fifa06 (and Fifa05 and couple of other games) hangs the system and blacks out the screen.
Game goes on, but can only hear sound no picture.



Tried/checked:-

Am already on the latest ATI Catalyst driver Ver5.13
Have also tried to rollback to older ver like 4.11 which have been reported to be more stable, but doesn't help
Have checked that graphics card is already assigned a IRQ=18, not sharing with any other devices


Anyone else has heard/experienced similar problems or can point me to fixes/suggestions will be most appreciated.

Am running about 123F/96F on cpu/system respectively.

Just flashed the latest BIOS today, didn't work.

Also updated all the motherboard drivers, didn't work.

Have not updated/installed anything new recently. Have also tried reinstalling the games on fresh copies of windows, so don't think is due to conflict with other softwares.

The only patch currently for fifa06 is a fix for a usb keyboard issue (that was indeed fixed with the patch). So far I only have 3 games fifa05/fifa06/top spin; all 3 have the problem.

Am using on board sound off the MSI NEO4 platinum.

Any other suggestions?

BTW how do I check that my PSU is 'big enough'?
