Hi, -I'm a Newby and this is my first question/post: I have 2 HDDs (C & D) in an old PC running Windows XP home. Dive"C" is FAT32, Drive"D" is NTFS, Drive D is the slave. When attempting to convert drive C to NTFS, I get 2 error messages from PM, "errors - 1073731435 & 3221235861, covert failed!" with no additional information. Does anyone have an idea what these error codes are? My goal is to have both HDDs combined on the one "C" drive to be moved to another PC that will be dual-booted. Thanks in advance for any assistance at all.:cry

You can not take two physical hard drives and combine them to one hard drive.
Are you perhaps trying to partition drive C into two parts a C and a D so you can remove drive D completely and use it elsewhere?
If you plan to remove drive D, do it before you try and partition drive C because otherwise your computer sees a drive D and won't allow you to assign D to the partition. Do You have any programs installed on D or is it just data? If programs, that presents other problems because the progrm when launched will look for the files on a non-existent drive and throw up error messages.

Without a manual for Partition Magic, it's next to impossible to know what the errors mean. Since PowerQuest has been bought out by Symantec, I don't think a manual will be easy to find.

Plodr, -First, thanks for such a speedy reply. My intent with these 2 HDDs is this: C HDD is installed with WinXP home with about 35GB of used space, 45GB of unused space. D HDD is a slave only with 16GB of used space and 3GB unused space. The PC that houses these HDDs are nearly 9 yrs old and it's "VERY SlOW" drive D does have considerable data on it (programs, photos, etc.) I do have several other PCs, and would like to dual-boot the C HDD and partition the D on the same (newer) PC. Basicly, dual-boot WinXP on "C" and partition "D" on one of the newer PCs. Any help would be great, thanks.:cry

Firstly, Why don't you use the Windows own NTFS convertor?

Secondly, any convertor will fail if the drive is too full. Move some stuff off and try again.
Do you need to preserve the copy of Windows XP?

    To convert from XP

Open a command prompt window (start>run>typein 'cmd')
or better reboot to safe mode with command prompt.

    type in

    convert c: /FS:NTFS

The process requires two reboots and take a while.

The setup regime you were hoping for - combining disks - is called dynamic volumes and is not supported by XP Home, you need XP Pro or Windows 2000 or server.
