    Hi,
I am going to remove my current OS on my old PC.
    I used this method before:
I booted the old PC from Hirens cd. Then I used one of their partition managers to delete the partition. It then said the whole hdd was unformatted. Then I installed a new OS.

Is this the best method or can this lead to errors on the hdd?

What OS are you installing? If you are installing XP it will give the option to create or remove partitions on HDD while completely reformatting the drive. If you are using another OS let us know.
