Pretty sure this is a hijack issue.

Well, here's the scoop -

I recently came across a nice little computer owned by a friend whose internet IP wasn't renewing on their DSL. After assessing it, trying some of the obvious things, and calling tech support, I finally decided to reinstall Windows. Of course, my friend didn't want to lose his data so I simply reinstalled the old Windows over the new. After installing Norton's Antivirus 2004 and Webroot Spy Sweeper, I connected the DSL back up to update the definitions on both and immediately started getting slowdowns, problems running Windows Update, and such. Lots of lockups. After updating everything, I ran Nortons and Spy Sweeper and deleted most of the spyware on the computer - about 192 seperate programs - yet my computer is still acting very strangely. Startup takes around 2 minutes, a blank command prompt activates every time, and multiple Firefox browsers open up with false Windows sites (update-sp1.html, update-sp2.html, all the way up to update-sp5.html). After about 5 minutes, if I attempt to open up task manager, it will open in the system tray but not as a window. Also, many installation programs seem to lock up near the very end at around 90-95% installation. I have to admit I'm a little stumped here - any ideas? -Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

- Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? Etc
