    Hello -

I have a Dell Inspiron 4150 laptop. I booted it up after it sat idle and shut down for months and received the message:
"Primary Hard Disk Drive 0 Not Found".
I replaced the hard drive but still get the same error message.
In BIOS it doesn't even recognize the hard drive. I can use the CD drive and run a CD from it with no problems.

I don't know what else to check, I'm not literate enough on computer troubleshooting to know what else to check or replace.

    Please help.

    Thanks

If the computer can't find two hard drives, it sounds like the connection between the motherboard and the hd is bad. Are you sure you seated the new hd correctly? I know when I install RAM, I tend to forget how hard I have to press it into the slot for it to make proper contact and be recognized. Perhaps you didn't press firmly enough when putting in the new hard drive.
Also what size is the new hard drive? Can you start to install windows to it?

I'm fairly sure I seated it properly. I had to push pretty hard to get it in there.

I was going to install Ubuntu on the new hard drive, so I ran the CD install and it appears to try to install but it gives me the same error.
