Printer Issue

Have a Desktop PC running XP Home and all software is up to date. Two printers are connected directly to this CPU with the respective software installed. Have a wireless home network with two other laptops (VISTA & Win7). The printers are both shared on the Desktop and the My Document folders on all three computers are shared. The My Document folders (and all sub-folders) on all three systems are accessible from any of the systems. This set-up has been in place for about 18 months.

Since day one, I have not been able to see one of my printers from the Win7 laptop. There’s no problem seeing and printing to this printer from the VISTA laptop. The printer in question is a Lexmark 2500 All-in-one. The other printer which can be accessed from all three computers is a Laser Brother DCP 7020.

Any idea why I can’t see the Lexmark printer on my Win7 Laptop? Is there some simple setting I have overlooked? Naturally, the work around is to access the WIN7 files I need to print on the Lexmark… from either the VISTA Laptop or the XP Desktop. .. but that’s a pain.

Well, since they are directly connected to one computer, only thing I could see is a possible conflict. If you move one of the printers to another computer, does it work then, for you to see it on all computers. Only other thing would be incompatible drivers with the Windows 7 computer.

 

Resolved... but not quite sure why <grin>.

I installed Win7 64bit driver for the lexmark on my Win7 laptop... although the printer is physically connected to my old XP desktop. My VISTA laptop has absolutely no printer software installed on it... yet I can access either printer that is connected to the desktop in another room. Anyway... everything is working and thanks for your help.
