Printer Keeps Coming Up As (copy 1) When It's The Only Instance Of That Printer

I have a computer running Win 10 that has a Canon Imageclass MF8280CW printer installed over a network (cat5e). Since I've had it it would periodically go offline, and I would have to uninstall and reinstall it to get it to work. I tried changing one of the port settings in the printer properties from WSD Port to Canon MFNP Port. This didn't resolve the issue. So I switched it back to WSD (which is the installation default). Here's the weird thing, when I went to reinstall the printer after it going offline again, now it keeps coming up in Devices and Printers as MF8200C Series (Copy 1), even though it's the only instance of that printer. I've removed it, done a registry sweep, restarted, and reinstalled, but still the same thing. I even tried going into regedit and removing anything I could find under HKEY_CURRENT_USER --> Printers that pertained to Canon, still nothing. I'm stuck. When a printer is added, where does Windows register it?

I would power off the printer. Then uninstall all printer drivers from your computer and make sure your Canon is gone from Devices and Printers. Then do a full "cold" reboot of your computer. By "cold", I mean to shutdown Windows completely, then when your computer powers off, unplug the computer from the wall. Wait about 15 seconds. This removes the +5Vsb from all points on the motherboard. Then power up the printer, then boot your computer and re-install your printer from scratch as per Canon's instructions.

    1) run printmanagement.msc - remove it there, then re add it.
    Didn't work?
    2) I've also created a new profile to "fix printer issues"
Log in under a different user or create one.
Rename the offending User's profile under c:\users\ say add a ",old" to the folder.
Use Registry Editor to remove the appropriate User name keys from the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
Then you can log back in to the user with a fresh start & copy all your Docs, Favs, etc for the .old folder.

I'm running Win 10 x64 and don't have Print Management in the Administrative Tools. So trying printmanagement.msc through the Run console obviously isn't finding it either. From what I've read it's only available on some versions of Vista. Am I wrong on this one?

So I got it solved. I tried to uninstall all Canon software/tools that I had installed, and it gave me an error that there were pending print jobs, and therefore couldn't uninstall. As it turns out, the last time I uninstalled the printer there must have been a pending print job (I'm assuming an error) but because the printer was gone from Devices and Printers I couldn't see the spooler and the corresponding job. So when I was trying to reinstall the printer, I guess windows was seeing the original device as having a job in the spooler, and adding it as (Copy 1). So by stopping the Print Spooler service, and going into %windir%\system32\spool\printers and deleting the contents of the folder, I was able to clear the spooler and uninstall the Canon software, and when I re-added it, it wasn't showing (Copy 1). Everything is good to go again. Now I just have to figure out why it keeps going offline all the time...
