    Printer HP 932C DeskJet
    runs (or did run) great.
    Cartridges are new.
    2 side print adapter installed.
I recently got a new MoBo. To my dismay I missed the fact that the new MoBo had no parallel port. So, I got a USB cable/adapter.
    Now here's the problem...
I installed the correct driver (couple times). XP reports all OK.
When I print anything from any application the print job starts, printer prints about 1/4 of the page then STOPS. After a delay the printer ejects the partialy printed page.
I went to HP site (couple times) and they have a utility that checks your driver and that sez all is ok.
USB settings - I disabled automatic power down (nada).

QUESTION: isnt there a "spooler" or "cue" ?
or: is there a way to "slow down" the data transfer to the printer?
It looks like the printer is loosing data or maybe getting it's buffer overwritten.

    Any sugestions?
    I need my printer.
    Thanks everybody

I have used these USB-to-Parallel cables many times on many different printers, and never had any problems, except one but it wasn't due to the cable or any hardware; a program wasn't completely XP compatible so the page formats were a bit out of whack. But that has nothing to do with your problem. If you have access to a PC with a parallel port (maybe a friend has an older laptop that would be easy to set up?) you can try the printer on, or maybe exchange the cable for a different one and see if that helps. Maybe try removing the 2-sided printing adapter as that may be causing a problem....

    Hi,

I have my Dell Inspiron 1705 connected to a parallel HP printer, DeskJet 712C via USB Cable. All works fine, until I reboot my computer after shutdown. My printer then goes "off line"! I cannot get it back "on line" until I re-install the printer again. When I attempt to put the printer on line, I get a "not responding" error from WindowsXP Pro.

I'm new to the forum, so I apologize for any wrong postings.

    Thanks,

    Paul

    Hi Plodr,

I'm using a Belkin "F5U002v1" USB Parallel Printer Adapter Cable. It looks much like your example. Works fine, until a reboot.

Thanks for your consideration. I'll work on learning how to start a new thread.

    Paul
