   can you connect a printer to a computer with the old fashioned printer cable and also have another printer connected with a USB cable, which would leave you with 2 printers connected to one computer?

   Yes, that shouldn't pose a problem You'd have to choose the default printer but printing to the alternative is only about 2 clicks more.
