Printer woes

I am using a DEll Dimension 3000 with a Dell AIO Printer 922.

Several days ago I had a computer guy put my printer back on line after I screwed it up by manipulating a bunch of buttons. My bad.

Yesterday, I got around to using the printer for the first time since the "repair.' When I got through printing, I turned off my computer and attempted to turn the printer off using the on-off button on the printer, but it would not turn off. After several attempts to turn it off the using the on- board button, I reached behind the printer and disconnected the power supply.

The printer went off, but when turned back on, it will not print.

I have checked the connections to the power supply, and the printer cable connections and all seems secure, but I have lost contact between the computer and the printer.

Any help would be appreciated.

First double check all those connections. Power lead at printer, the voltage regulator (that black box in the middle of the cord) and at the wall. USB cable at the printer and the computer. Actually unplug them all and replug them in.

If that doesn't work try uninstalling the printer and driver and and then reinstalling the driver after a reboot ie.

1) In XP go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer management - Device Manager.
In Vista I think (haven't got a copy running atm so someone correct me if I'm wrong) go to Control Panel -> System and maintenance -> Computer Management -> Device manager

2) Find your printer in the list and right click.

3) Select Uninstall.

4) Reboot.

5)Windows will autodetect new hardware.

6) Install drivers again.
