Privacy Issues

Is there a good way to ensure privacy of private data. With the government(s) and bad actors snooping and snooping is there a way to make sure they do not have access to my information that is retained on my computer. Particularly, so since it is a laptop and I need to use it from a variety of public and secured access sites, some the secured sites stipulate the site owners are authorized to access anything on my computer if I use their services, which I do for their convenience. However,I do not believe that should give them the right to access my stuff especially without my knowledge just because for their convenience I use my equipment to help do work only which can be only accessed from their secured site. So I need to protect my stuff from their potential snooping as well as from other truely bad actors.

I ran into to a product called democrakey that uses a USB device to somehow keep my stuff safe from being snooped, and protecing my data and web access activities from prying systems. Does this product work and if so what it the theory that allows it to provide security, and how do I know that the product itself isn't snoopin some how.

The first thing that comes to mind is Password protect, but if you think about it all security does is the same thing a locked door does and that's to keep honest people honest. If someone wants something bad enough they will get it one way or another.(especially the Govrn.) If you are that concerned then why not leave all personal info off that particular lappy. No they don't have that right and aren't "suppose to" without your knowledge.
