I installed PrivacyMaker last month. A few days later, I realized that I didnt want it. When I tried to delete it... I couldnt find it to delete it. It runs at start up every time. Now the free trial expired and I still cant find it to delete it. I dont know how to delete it... any suggestions?

go the the control panel, then go to add/remove programs and look for it in there. when you find it click remove. if that doesn't wor then go to my computer. double click on c:, then double click on the program files and look for a folder that is either titled privacymaker or titled after the name of the company. delete that file and clean out recycl bin. that should do it.

You will need click run, type regedit and hit enter. (WARNING: ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY BEFORE MAKING CHANGES) look for the folder that displays HKEY_Local_machine click the plus sign next to it and do the same for the following folders, Software>Microsoft>Windows>Current Version> then look in the folders that are named Run, RunOnce and RunOnceEx. look for the entry for privacy maker in there and delete it. but like I said back it up first. right click on the entry and hit export and save it somewhere in case you delete the wrong thing. Then go back to the top of regedit and look in HKEY_Current_user and then goto the same folders under that tree. that should take care of it.

Ok it may be installed as a service. goto control panel, then administrative tool (asuming you have windows 2k/xp) and then open the services. find the privacymaker service and disable it.

well it has to be in the registry in one of those places I mentioned. Otherwise it would not start at bootup. Unless it is in the same folder unther the HKEY_Users>.default> software>microsoft>windows>current version > run
It may be names something different. you can remove all the entries in the run folders. though none of the stuff that is on the task bar will be there on next reboot. but if you export each entry before deleting you can put an entry back to get the app the entry is for to start again. make sure you check the value of the key it will display the path and filename of what is being started.
