Private Folders

I have made my Files and Folders "Private" on Windows XP Home Edition in error when creating a password on the Administrator User Account. I now want to change these Files and Folders back to public access so that they be accessed by other network users.

Please advise how I do this?

Perhaps this will help:

To turn Simple File Sharing on or off in Windows XP Professional, follow these steps:

1. Double-click My Computer on the desktop.
2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
3. Click the View tab, and then select the Use Simple File Sharing (Recommended) check box to turn on Simple File Sharing. (Clear this check box to turn off this feature.)

Oops, I'm a dork . . . :-D I just noticed that first one is for XP Pro . . . but I think the procedure is similar for XP Home . . . also ignore the second shortcut - I gave you the wrong one - it's for Vista. Sorry - it's been a long night.

Anyway, here is a shortcut to replace the second one from earlier:

Also, for a quick share you can do the following (but I recommend reading the microsoft articles to make sure you understand the security issues involved in sharing folders):

Browse to C:\Documents and Settings and right click on your username. Select Properties and then the Sharing tab. Uncheck the box for Make this Folder Private.
