Problem accessing folders

After having to perform an HP recovery on an XP Home machine all my application links are dead. Additionally and more concerning is that I cannot access some folder under My Documents. I get an error message stating "Access denied". Intially I got htis message for My Documents folder but after setting the user as they were before the recovery I got access back for this folder. The problem is with the subfolders.

Anyone know how to fix this?

you will most likely need to take ownership of those folders... instructions http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308421&sd=tech ( note: for XP Home you will need to be in safe mode to access the security tab )
