Problem loading SP3

I'm trying to download SP3 for my XP-equipped desktop. Every time I try to do so the program gets to what looks the 2/3 point and tells me the installation procedure was interrupted on a blue screen of death. I am using IE. Can someone tell me what the problem might be? I need the SP3 in order to load and run certain programs.

How er where are you downloading from?

Try downloading to your desktop and run from there

I attempted to download the SP3 from the MS site you listed but at the end of the whole process an error message saying "can't load catalog" or words to that effect appeared. I've ordered the CD from MS in hopes that using the CD will give me better results. Many thanks for your help on this.

you can download the ISO image and burn it to a cd yourself
