Love to help you out here, flukekiller; but we'll need a little more info like:

    (1) Which media player (and version) gives you the trouble? [Real, Windows Media Player, QuickTime, etc]
    (2) What operation system are you using? [Win XP/2000/98, etc.]
    (3) Which website is giving you the trouble [providing a link would help, as well]
    (4) When you try to watch the clip (and nothing happens) are you getting any particular "error message?"

The more information you provide, the more likely it is that we will be able to diagnose the problem and offer possible solutions. ;)

    Good Luck!

    sorry bout that,,,

well i guess all of them but my default one is realplayer
i use xp but installed the Vista version from this site a few days ago(not sure if this has anything to do with it) it did start happening around the same time but not sure exactly when
sometimes i get this error message "cannot create DirectShow player"
this is one of the websites http://www.youtube.com/verify_age?next_url=/watch?v=k4qdX6_9XgI

Have you tried reinstalling Windows Media Player and installing the latest version of DirectX? This will often fix the "Cannot Create DirectShow player" problem that you are experiencing.

In fact you probably should update all of your video players. Out of date video players can cause problems viewing videos on many websites.

    - Microsoft DirectX
    - Windows Media Player – [Choose Player 10 (for Windows XP)]
    - Real Player for Windows
    - QuickTime for Windows

Incidentally, I don't know if this is related to your exact problem; however I tried the "YouTube!" link you provided in your last post. When I tried to view any video on that website, I received the following message: "Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Macromedia's Flash Player. Click here to get the latest flash player."

Important Note: As a precaution make sure to always Create a System Restore Point before you download and then install anything onto your computer - just in case something goes wrong during or after installation. This will allow you to return your computer settings to the state your PC was in - prior to installing. It takes like 30 seconds to perform a System Restore Point and can save you many hours of headaches and frustration; should something unforeseen go wrong during the installation process.

    Good Luck!

I had this exact same problem [internal application error has occurred] when I ‘updated’ to WMP 10.

Here’s what I did to fix this:

    (1) Click Start then click Run.
    (2) Type in regsvr32 jscript.dll
    (3) Click OK
    (4) Then click Start again and then Run.
    (5) Type in regsvr32 vbscript.dll
    (6) Click OK

Hope this works for you as well as it worked for me! ;)

    Hint:
Remember to leave a space between both regsvr32 [space] jscript.dll as well as regsvr32 [space] vbscript.dll

    Good Luck!

YouTube videos are flash video, so require MacroMedia Flash Player to be installed.
