I'm hoping someone can help walk me through it. I've tried the Microsoft site and some advice on various Google searches. They just don't seem to have the right info for me.

Here's what I have going on:

We just bought a Vista laptop for my wife, and she wanted to be able to access the internet in our living room, so I bought a powerline network kit and hooked it up.
I got it hooked up & everything was working fine. She was surfing the internet and everything.

That wasn't good enough for ME, though... Nooooooooo.

I had to go and try to create a Home network. I'm no "Major Gek," but I'm comfortable around a computer. I tried following the steps on my (XP) PC and I don't know WHAT happened, but she can no longer connect to the internet.

Apparently, I'm just not as swift as I thought.

I looked around the site, and I can't find anything that seems to be helpful to me. Can anyone offer me some assistance? I'll be happy to answer any questions.

    THANK YOU!

    Eric

The powerline network adapter works like this:

One adaptor gets plugged into the wall outlet (built in surge protector) and has 4 outlets. Whichever items (Laptop, in this case) that you want to have an Internet connection & network connection get plugged into it.
The MAIN adaptor gets plugged into the MAIN computer & your Cable modem/router and, of course, the wall outlet (built in surge protector again).

The computers and broadband "communicate" via the power lines in the house. It's rather cool.

As for system restore... I'm desperately trying to avoid that, though it looks as if I might have to. : (

Any networking gurus here have any suggestions? Are there any programs I can run?

I tried the built in troubleshooters on both computers to no avail.

    Thanks!

    Eric
