I was recently notified by norton anti-virus that it located a virus (I hadn't updated my subscription). Norton told me that the virus cannot be removed at this time. The virus name that popped was something like nav32.exe. I ran adaware (found a few spywares that were removed and then ran spybot and found nothing) and then i downloaded the renewal subscription and restarted the computer and did a complete system check and it didnt find a virus.

When i checked the quarantine i do notice a virus quarintined tonight called trojan.lowzones. It was "not submitted" and is a "backup of an infected file" according to norton.

is it safe to assume that the virus has been removed since it did not appear in the my newest system check?

Before i go through all the steps you have listed in the "Stickys" i wanted to make sure i am not doing it for no reason.

    thanks

To be safe I would go ahead and run the steps below:

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gifAfter doing ALL of the above and you still have a problem, make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below thread to properly use HijackThis and attach the log:
