I reinstalled XP on a laptop and was googling to get drivers for the wireless adapter. I found a site that switched me to Driveragent. It installed but everytime it scans it messes up the display. I tried uninstalling through control panel but it remained in the taskbar. I tried right clicking to see if I could delete it but it started scanning. Once again it messed up the display. I went into C drive and looked for the file but couldn't find it. I googled for an uninstall program but came up blank. Does anyone know how to uninstall this. When I give my friend her laptop back I don't want her or her family to accidently click the icon. Because they won't know how to fix the display.

Also, where can I find a generic driver for a wireless USB adapter? It does not have a name on it and the guy did not give her a disk. I am getting more and more cautious about buying off of Craigslist! Anyway any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know Driveragent, but it appears to be a browser plugin. What browser do you use? Can you uninstall the plugin via the browser?

P.S. I have always used DriverMax; it is easy to use, it can identify unknown devices, it is easy to uninstall, and it is free for up to two driver downloads a day.

I am using Firefox. I didn't realize it was a browser plug-in. I will check that out.

And thanks for telling me about Drivermax. I will check that out also. Thanks again.:)

This is just something I gleaned from googling 'driveragent'; there may also be an installed version.

My advice: don't use DriverAgent! Uninstall it.
If it is anything like the drivers MS recommends, not all recommendations work. You discovered DriverAgent's drivers for your display are not correct.

it might be able to tell you exactly what wireless adapter. Then we'll be able to search for the correct driver.
