Problem Updating Windows 10 To Verson 1607

Hi all,

I have the windows 10 operating system and it's been trying to update to version 1607 for a couple of months now, but I keep getting error messages.
the last error message I received is no: 0xc190011f.

I looked for solutions but I haven't manged to solve the problem. I used Windows Repair yesterday and the problem is still not solved.

Perhaps someone here could help?

Try doing a 'REFRESH' (not 'reset') of Windows 10. It will remove applications and drivers you installed since you were first on Windows 10 but it will generate a list of them for after.
Once you have done that successfully Windows Update should work fine

Have you tried turning off the firewall, and downloading?

 

You can search Microsoft for 'refresh' on your system and the MS instructions will arrive in Dutch.
A refresh will reinstall Win 10 cleanly without losing personal data.

Can you try F8 on start up, and see if you can get other options to go to system restore ?

 

This is one of the reasons, I like to try other ways before refresh.
Can you give us the error code ?
It can sometimes be a help, if you reboot , with ctrl/alt/delete, or, even a hard shutdown- hold power button for around ten seconds, and the computer will shut down. When you restart, it could then give you options on start up- if system restore shows, choose that.

 

Unless the system restore points available go back to before this problem, ie at least a couple of months, it wont help. Version 1607 was first released publicly in August 2016 so it would have been trying to update to that all this time.
Knowing the error code now might help but it's possible a clean reinstall from a Microsoft Windows 10 iso file might be an answer, so backing up personal data to removable media for that scenario might be a good idea.

Other options that are quite quick to do now, and wont cause any problems are

1. Run the system file checker from an ADMINISTRATOR command prompt - sfc /scannow

In windows 10 it's simple:
right click the windows start button and choose 'Command Prompt (admin)' and simply type
sfc /scannow (must be a space between sfc and the forward slash)

2. Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter
Choose the one for Windows 10

I did the start up windows restore option and it worked. I installed the latest updates and it looks like the latest verson of windows 10 is now being configured. I will update if there are any further issues.
