Alright guys, I'm completely out of ideas on this, and would definitely appreciate some help. I just bought a brand new Liteon IHAS324 B sata dvd drive, and it doesn't want to burn anything at all, but will read everything perfectly, and I can boot a disc from it. My other Liteon drive is an IDE connection, and burns the way it should. I've tried googling this, but I can't seem to find anyone that has the same problem. My guess is it's something to do with my motherboard not liking the sata disc drive, even though my 2 hard drives are sata, but like I said, that's just a guess. I made sure all the sata ports were active in my BIOS, and tried plugging it into all my different sata ports, and even took the drive back and exchanged it for another one, and it's doing the same thing as the first one, so I know it's not a faulty drive. I'm not sure, but my motherboard is a MSI Neo4 Platinum. I can find out exactly if you guys say it matters. Sorry to write so much, I'm just trying to be thorough. If anyone can help me with this or offer any ideas, I would really appreciate it a lot.

    1. What burning software are you using?
    2. Any error messages?
    3. Brand of DVDs?

Alright guys, I've made some progress since I first posted, and you guys responded. I stumbled across a thread during my Google search where someone mentioned right-clicking on ATAPI/IDE devices in my device manager, and changing the dvd drive channel to PIO Mode, as opposed to IDE, and it seems to have worked, at least with burnign a cd, and a quick data dvd. The main test will be when I attempt to burn an XGD3 Xbox 360 game, which is why I had to buy this specific drive. A lot of people say I'm supposed to disable ACHI on my sata port that's using the dvd drive to have successful XGD3 burns, but I can't out how to do it without reformatting my PC. To answer your guy's previous questions though, I was using Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R DL (made in Singapore) for my first few attempts, and a Sony CD-R for cd testing, and none worked. Also, I was using IMGBURN, and Nero 9 Essentials for the software, and even tried the built-in XP burning software, and CloneCD. I did install all my latest drivers for all my hardware and uninstalled/reinstalled the dvd drive. I was going to flash an updated BIOS as well, but I need a floppy disc to do it supposedly, and I don't own a floppy drive. Anyway, the problem seems to be fixed, but I'll report back after some more tests for clarification. Thanks for the advice and responses by the way.

Here's the link for the solution I found if anyone wants to look it over. The title of the thread is the error I was receiving.
