I'm running on Vista, and I have two admin accounts on my computer. One is my primary account, the other is a backup. So I've been trying to install ITUNES on my primary account and I've been getting countless errors. Now I decided to try and install it on my backup account, and it installed successfully with no problems. So why the hell does my backup account have more account privileges then my primary account?

What the hell is going on? Additionally, when I am logged on my primary account and I try and delete my backup account, it won't let me. But when I am logged into my backup, there is an option to delete my primary account so I am seriously convinced that my backup account SOMEHOW has more administrative privileges then my main account. How do I fix this? How do I simply regain all control with my main account, and get rid of the backup?

What doesn't make any sense is that they are both Admin, yet my backup account has more account access and privileges. I don't understand how this happened. I simply wish to delete my backup account, and restore all my computer privileges to my primary account. How do I do this?

just a thought...sounds to me like your backup is your admin account and your primary is the backup...when you first installed vista there was an account called administrator account...did you add an account which you called your primary account...leaving the admin account as your backup...if this is the case you can not delete the orginal admin account but you can delete any accounts that were made...as for how to fix this I haven't a clue...but someone here will jump in I'm sure...sorry I couldn't be of more help...

That didnt really help.. All I know is, I can't delete my backup account when I'm logged into my primary account. But I can delete my primary account when I'm logged into my backup. My primary account was made first. Then I made the backup account just to clarify.

I would try taking ownership of you C: drive. I don't do it often enough to give you step by step. But we can go one step at a time.

From your primary account go to Computer and right click C: drive and select Properties.
In the Group or User names section does your Primary user name show up in the list?
If not then click the Edit button.
    Now click the Add button.
In the Enter Names/Objects box type in your primary user name. Click the Check Names button.
    Click the OK button.

Now, Back in the Security tab, Highlight your primary user name and Click the Edit button and give yourself full control.

See if there is any change. If not then we want to take ownership of the C: drive but I will have to do that in another post.

Anyone who has the steps for taking ownership clear, please jump in. I only do it after a reformat/reload once or twice a year so I don't have the steps down pat. Thanks!
