Problem with ACPI OS after new m/b installed

I trying to upgraded my m/b to a Giga-byte GA-81865GM(F)-775.

The installation seemed to go ok, it went through the normal display screens
when I tried to boot up except that I then got a screen which said it was closing down to protect my computer and mentioned something about ACPI OS.
Unfortunately I am not able to get back to this screen again all that happens is the computer screens show the PCI Devices listing.
Then verifying DMI Pool Data, then shows the normal screen when there has been a problem i.e. Start in safe mode Safe mode with networking etc ending with start windows normally.
I have tried all of these but all that happens is the computer reboots and the whole sequence begins again in a loop.
The operating system I am trying to boot to is Windows XP Pro
Any help would be much appreciated TIA.....

 

Did you re-install windows XP after changing mobo ???

No I did not reinstall XP.

I am fairly sure that my problem is Bios based but how to cure it is another matter.

How would I upgrade my Bios if I can't get windows to start???

 

You could upgrade your bios using a 3 1/2 disquette that's the method i always uses it's the best choice...

So go to your site for your new bios Giga-byte GA-81865GM(F)-775

And download the disquette version of the bios they will tell you a step by step guide on how to upgrade the bios.....
