Ive just recently encountered a problem with my windows 7 32bit pc.

There is a problem with my internet browsers.

The internet itself is fine, i play an online game and i can get on there all day with no problems...

I use firefox, yesterday it crashed and i got the little box saying report the error then do i want to restart or quit firefox, so i clicked restart and nothing happened. i clicked it about 10 more times and nothing happened. so i reinstalled it, and when i click on the firefox button, i just get the box with the restart or quit firefox buttons. :(

ive also tried internet explorer, which is a terrible browser anyway and i have had times where it simply crashes for no reason. But yesterday when i tried it as a substitute for firefox, it opens up but cant load any pages.

the game i play is eve online, and it has an ingame browser which works fine and can get onto websites like normal.

Its just a problem with my browsers.

    thanks in advance.

oh, and im on my laptop incase anyone wonders how i managed to write this.

    Greetings, giant275.

A few things you might check and/or try:

Grab CCleaner and run both the files and the registry cleaners.

Make sure your Java is up to date, and that no older versions exist: the current version is 6.0.220.

Try both browsers in their respective Safe Modes (no addons, extensions, or plugins).

Check your startups, make sure there is nothing there that's 'phoning home' that might interfere with browser operation.

Check your antivirus/firewall settings, make sure nothing there is blocking browser operation.

And, of course, make sure your machine is free of malware.

    thanks for the reply.

as for the startups, how do i know if something is phoning home?

there are a couple of startups that dont have a filepath containing 'Program Files', could these be a problem?

Try the safe mode version of FF (not to be confused with windows safe mode).
Start/Programs/Mozilla Firefox then choose Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode). Does it open? If so, one of your addons is probably causing a problem.
