    Please follow the steps below:

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem:

    - Download HijackThis 1.99.1

    - Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

    - Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

    - Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

    - Run HijackThis and save your log file.

    - Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).

I did everything from SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal ,
and it cleared a lot. but I'm still getting derbiz at startup, MS spyware picks it up and removes it, but I'm getting the same popup every 2 minutes, it has no ad in it, just a internet explorer page popup.
all of the scans ran fully, but the Ccleaner had a few "non-cleanable items"
can I get some help with this?

    Thanks again

Your OS and IE versions are way out of date and represent a major security risk. After we fix your current problems you MUST get updated.

You should open Control Panel and run Add/Remove programs and uninstall Messenger Plus! 3

Remember to close all browsers (including C:\PROGRA~1\mozilla.org\Mozilla\Mozilla.exe) before running HijackThis.

If you are using WinXP or WinMe, make sure you have system restore disabled (per the tutorial).
For all OS types, make sure viewing of hidden files is enabled (per the tutorial).

Please run HijackThis and click on the "Open the Misc Tools Section" button on the open page. Then select "Open process manager" on the left-hand side. Look for the following process (or processes) and one at a time kill them by selecting it and then click "Kill process". Then click yes.

    C:\WINDOWS\System32\msnmsgrs.exe

After killing all the above processes, click "Back".
Then please click "Scan" and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [strmsnmsgr] msnmsgrs.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [checkrun] C:\windows\system32\eliteegv32.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [strmsnmsgr] msnmsgrs.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [strmsnmsgr] msnmsgrs.exe

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.
Boot into safe mode and use Windows Explorer to delete:
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\msnmsgrs.exe
C:\windows\system32\eliteegv32.exe <-- also delete all other filenames beginning with elite and ending with exe in the system32 folder.

If you get an error when deleting a file. Right click on the file and check to see if the read only attribute is checked. If it is, uncheck it and try again. Other wise open Task Manager and kill the process if running then delete the file.

Now run Ccleaner (installed while running the READ ME FIRST). Now if running Win XP goto c:\windows\Prefetch and delete all files in this folder.

Now reboot in normal mode and post a new HJT log. And tell us how things are working.

everything seems to be working fine now, no more popups or derbiz
it says to leave a hijack this log file anyway, so here it is.
thanks a lot for your help

You did not get all it. Go back and repeat the steps related to the below because it is still there:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [checkrun] C:\windows\system32\eliteegv32.exe

Then after doing that reboot and check your HijackThis log and make sure it is really gone.
If it is, you really need to get started on your Windows Updates because as I said before, your OS and IE versions are way out of date and represent a major security risk. To do that and to help protect you from even more problems, you should follow all the steps in the below thread:

How to Protect yourself from malware!

You're welcome! Now you are clean but note that the free version of BearShare contains malware.

As for your IE and XP versions.... you did not get IE upgraded. You still have the old version and for XP you will have to purchase a valid license key. The downside of not doing this is that you will never be able to get the patches and security fixes and you will constantly be running into problems.
