Hey, I need to create a partition on my drive using "FDISK". However, to do this I need to type the word FDISK and my keyboard doesn't seem to want to type anything. The odd thing is that I can still access the BIOS by pressing del, it works for anything else apart from the FDISK setup. Any ideas why this might be happening?

    Hi,

    1. It's possible that it's your boot disk. Why not get a new file from bootdisk.com, run it and it will auto-install on a new floppy? They have "enhanced" 98 boot disks anyway.

    2. You don't have a USB keyboard? you'll need a ps/2 because you don't have drivers yet...

    3. What got you to this point? Were you having other problems already that a keyboard issue might be related to? Did something happen. and if so, what was it?

    Good luck :)

Hmm well, I am using a USB keyboard but I did get another bootdisk that would install there drivers for me, not sure if it's worked though. The only problem is that the ps/2 port on the mainboard has had it. :( I think i'm just gonna put it in antoerhc omp and do it then so that I can use a ps/2 keyboard.

Well, do you have access to another computer that you could put that drive in long enough to run Fdisk?

Well, there's your answer. fdisk, format, put back in the original computer and boot to your Install CD for windows. :)

You never said what OS you're going to install on that. Or are you? If it's XP, have you tried just booting to the CD, let it copy enough files to get you up and going, and then use it for partitioning and formatting? It gives you those options, if the keyboard will work by then...

If it's 98/ME/95 then the below will work....
