Problem with IE9 :(

My gf is running Windows 7 IE9 on her laptop, laptop is set for automatic updates on Windows, I keep the main drivers up to date.

We have made no updates in a week or so, no new software installed, no "unusual" websites visisted and no changes made to settings. I guess windows could have updated itself without us noticing.

Tonight when she tries to open new tabs gets "IE cannot display that page" randomly, say 2 out of every 8 tabs that you open. Same when opening a new IE page. It's very intermitent. Some sites now not opening at all. Intrestingly you can hear the laptop getting very loud (as if we were playing a graphically intensive game like planteside 2 or something) yet all that is open is IE.

Don't suppose anyone has any suggestions please? Reluctant to play around with too many settings as we haven't changed anything.

    Many thanks in advance

    A few starter questions:

    1. what is the make and model of the laptop?
    2. Who provides your internet service and what speed is it supposed to be?
    3. Please open IE and get a few tabs going. Then press CTRL & Shift & ESC to open task manager. Go to the processes tab and click on the column marked "CPU". This should sort everything running on your computer by how much processor it is using. Please report back if iexplore.exe is the top item and how much CPU it is using.
    4. Do you have any other browser on the computer and if so does it have the same problem?

    Thank you for your reply,
    1)It's an MSI Laptop G620MSI
    2)Virgin internet, either 30mg or 60mg fibreoptic.
3)CPU usage is 13% with just the one IE open and very noisey
4)Firefox hasnt given the message at all, so works, but still noisy and soudns like under "full load"

I use the same network as her and no problems on my PC.

We have a new kindle that connects to the wirless, might be a long shot but could that interfere at all if close?

It's very unlikely that the Kindle could cause these problems as it is a wireless device that connects in a standard way.

Are there any specific sites that never load now or is it just they randomly don't load and then they do?

This does look like an issue with IE9 but there appears to be a separate heat issue with your laptop. I suggest you start a new thread for the heat issue and we will continue to work on the IE9 issue here.

If you go to the Control Panel --> Programs and Features there should be an option on the left for "View installed updates". Have a look here and see if there have been any over t he last few days. If there have please post their KB number here.
