problem with installation of kotr

Hi. I've been getting an install error while attempting to install disc 1 of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. I have tried several things

1. The disc is not corrupt, I have used it to succesfully install on other machines

2. It is not a cd-reader issue, as I have tried creating an image and mounting it on a virtual cd-reader, and still get the same error (data2.cab crc cyclic error or something like that, or when trying to copy that specific file over from the cd to my hardrive.

3. I've also run scan disc succesfully as well as tried creating a seperate partition and formatting it, then copying/installing over to that (still no good)

Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.. THANKS!
