Problem with msicuu2.exe

I'm ready to completely get rid of Office/2000 - I've been using OpenOffice for about a year and no longer need the MS product. However, when I try to install, I get an error saying "This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package. I get the same error when I try to uninstall the MS Word Viewer.

The recommended solution is to download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility (msicuu2.exe); however, when I try to run that program, it immediately halts with a Windows Script Host Error: Line 1, Char 1, The specified module could not be found - Code: 8007007E.

All I want to do is to remove the MS stuff and clear all the remnants from my system. Any ideas?
